A Trip to the Detroit Institute of Art

We are taking a class stuffed porcupine around Michigan. It is for Social Studies class. I chose to take him to the Detroit Institute of Art (DIA). I took my friends Megan and Annie with me. We had a lot of fun. Here are some pictures we took at the DIA.

Aztek Chair
Artist unknown

This is a Central American Native American piece. It was used as a chair by the Azteks.

The Flute Player
William T. Williams

This appealed to me because it was full of color and was very interesting.

L'Amour
Elizabeth Murray

This looked very interesting to me because it was unusual and I thought it was very interesting.

Remembering the Nights
Katherine Porter

I had my mom take a picture of this because when you looked at it, you could see why the artist named it "Remembering the Nights".

Collage
We didn't get the name of the artist

This seemed neat to me because it appeared to be just a bunch of pieces scattered around when in reality it is a great piece of art work.

C.E.L. 1409
Beverly Fishman

This was neat because it looks like it was made of violin strings and I am a violin player. This would take a whole lot of violins.

Baroque Synchrony #11
Morgan Russell

This piece was full of color. That's why I had my mom take a picture of it.

We didn't get the title
Picasso

This was neat because I like Picasso's art work.

We didn't get the title
We didn't get the artist's name

This was very interesting because it looks like a bunch of shocks and lightning.

We didn't get the title
We didn't get the artist's name

This was interesting because I'm sure it would have taken a long time to paint that on that size of a wall and it has green people in it in the upper left hand corner.
